About the Position

Global Engineering has the responsibility to invent, design, specify and deliver product and process technologies to make Goodyear’s Business Strategies achievable. This department engineers and integrates new commercial technologies and custom designs to support new products and increased manufacturing capability. This position is responsible for supporting and propagating existing controls technologies and investigating and implementing new controls technologies.

 

The successful candidate is responsible for supporting the development of projects with moderate complexity or working on complex projects in cooperation with more experienced personnel. The incumbent seeks solutions to technical problems, conducts work on assigned tasks and exhibits enough process knowledge to be able to operate in the field independently. The incumbent will design and program PLC's, Drives, and HMI's. Incumbent will also work on software to interface to Level 1, 2, and other machine computers. Incumbent should have experience drawing and reading electrical schematics, AutoCAD preferred. 

 

This position is in the Tire Assembly Process team and will work with other engineers, as well as engineering and IT contractors and suppliers. The individual will also work closely with all GE process teams, IT, Reliability, Quality, and Production.

  • Collect data and inputs to make product quality decisions.  Drive and coach others in making decisions.
  • Achieve impactful results and improve process/approaches used by others.  Coach other on complex problems.
  • Use and promote application of project management tools and standards in the execution of projects.
  • Effectively execute steps to initiate project, while driving and coaching others in the process. Deliver project objective through effective project planning. Project may be cross functional, divisional, or global.
  • Develop solutions to project risks. Coach others on project risk management process.

 

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
  • EE Degree with Rockwell experience, preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience, required. 
  • Programming and troubleshooting PLC's, HMIs, and Drives in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Continual learner as evidenced by application of knowledge, gained through additional education/experience/training.
  • Experience in cross functional assignment or project.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, domestically and internationally, and work occasional off-hours is required.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment controls including electrical distribution, schematics, and controls
