Primary Purpose of the Position:
- Provide strategic direction, guidance, leadership and coordination efforts in driving energy losses down by establishing strategic and tactical initiatives to optimize utilities consumption in the Asia pacific footprint
- Establish a sustainable culture of continuous improvement in energy conservation. Lead and coordinate key energy efficiency initiatives and establish mechanisms for sharing/managing best practices across the Asia Pacific region
- Develop and manage energy efficiency programs and reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) roadmap across the region. This includes seek out new environmentally friendly energy technologies, track and communicate performance metrics, setting annual & medium-term goals, administration of the energy data collection system, support internal/external reporting, establishing auditing processes
- Support Plant teams in developing plant energy / GHG strategies by identifying local opportunities to reduce energy usage, GHG emissions, and utility costs. Serve as a technical bridge between senior leadership, government regulatory organizations and the technical engineering community
- Collaborate with internal and external organizations to secure sufficient resources to implement strategic energy / GHG management. Develops communication, education and training programs and materials as required to implement energy / GHG strategies
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a sustainable culture of continuous improvement in energy conservation
- Lead and coordinate key energy efficiency initiatives and establish mechanisms for sharing/managing best practices across the region
- Establish benchmarking activities with best-in-class perfo
- Seek out technological alternatives that can positively impact the usage of energy in tire manufacturing equipment
- Promote a zero-loss mindset setting high expectations in performance in the space of energy conservation. Continue building processes and systems under the Goodyear Operation Excellence framework:
- Leverage Focused Improvement pillar for sharing best practices and identify options
for efficiency in the mfg. processes
- Leverage the Reliability Excellence pillar competences for sustainable execution of
energy efficiency activities over time
- Develop analytical tools including Artificial Intelligence to identify inefficiencies in the
mfg. processes and addressing them
- Use the energy Loss Assessment tool to direct the focus on the top opportunities
- Support any reporting need in the space of energy efficiency, renewable energy, water efficiency & GHG emissions
- Monthly Operations Reviews and Annual Operating Plans
- Support the plant to develop internal KPI’s
- Serve as technical resource to the Regional Manufacturing team
-Track and Communicate progress on Regional KPI’s related to reliability/maintenance
performance at continuous basis
- Support the business to respond to customer demands for sustainable operations
- Participate in customers Request for Quotes
- Participate in customers reviews about Goodyear's energy strategies
- Provide subject matter expertise in energy related inquiries
- Continuously monitor new or changes in Global/ region / country regulatory requirements in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, water efficiency & GHG emissions.
- Serve as a linkage between Goodyear and regulatory entities
- Serve as a technical advisor for Goodyear senior leadership
- Update Goodyear standards accordingly
- Coach and guide engineering organization and new hire onboarding on energy conservation and facilities
Education & Certifications
- Required 10+ years of progressive experience in leadership assignment in an international & matrix organization
- At least 5 or more years leading and managing teams in a technical organization
- Preferably has 5+ years of experience in an engineering leadership position in the tire or automotive industry (highly technical product environment)
- Solid and proven experience with securing business success through managing relationships with various internal & external stakeholders
- Demonstrated technical acumen to engage, interact and direct technology resources
- Start-up minded - Creativity and “think big” perspective to bring fresh ideas to strategy
- Able to analyze and grasp a situation quickly from different perspectives and create well-reasoned solutions
- Demonstrated ability to use data/metrics to justify requirements, build business cases and measure performance
- Agile management style - able to adapt to changes in priorities with ease, comfortable working in a “gray zone” while defining the way forward
- Experienced negotiator adept at influencing stakeholders and 3rd party providers
