Accounting Team Lead

Position Description:

The Accounting Team Lead will work on account reconciliations, preparation of journal entries, the month-end close responsibilities and quarter-end consolidated financial accounting and reporting activities to ensure compliance with all external and internal requirements. While overseeing a team of direct reports, the Accounting Team Lead will also work with other internal departments within Goodyear as well as our external Payroll Vendor to identify, research and resolve issues.  Integrates continuous improvement to achieve operational efficiency is key.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries. Reconcile various balance sheet accounts monthly. Provide supervision for and review of direct report’s selected account reconciliations and journal entries monthly. Coordinate financial statement closing activities – monitoring and communication of closing status, troubleshooting issues, performance of internal controls over financial statement close process.
  • Manage segregation of duties and restricted access process. Prepare various monthly reports for internal consolidated reporting package.
  • Utilize US/Local GAAP and assist in applying US/Local GAAP to transactions that are accounted for and reviewed by the department.
  • Work with internal/external auditors to provide necessary requests for quarter-end reviews and year-end audit. Work with other departments on accounting matters and serve as a source of information relative to such matters. Participate in meetings and advise on the financial implications of matters under discussion.
  • Perform various ad hoc analyses to support Goodyear’s business operations as necessary.

 

Required Experience and Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years of accounting and/or finance experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of SAP and Hyperion preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, able to understand complex data and issues with demonstrated ability to think outside the box.
  • Experience with interpretation and application of current U.S. generally accepted accounting standards.

 

Desired Personal Skills/Attributes/and Qualifications:

  • CPA and/or an MBA or advanced degree in accounting is desired.
  • Able to analyze and grasp a situation quickly from different perspectives and create well-reasoned solutions.
  • People management skills, including excellent written and oral communication, a proven ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal direction and interact confidently with leadership team.
  • Demonstrates ethical and moral behavior, unquestionable integrity and character.
  • Ability to support accounting decisions with logical evidence and persuasively present position and respective journal entries.
