About the Position

The Application Architect applies expertise in programming procedures to complex programs; recommends the redesign of programs, investigates, and analyzes feasibility and program requirements, and often develops programs and program specifications. Assigned programs typically affect a broad multi-user, multi-process, cross platform environment. The Architect uses knowledge of technology and methodology tools, infrastructure, work processes, regulations, and management practices to analyze business opportunities. Architects may function as a sub team lead for lower-level staff or may take on leadership role in small to medium sized initiatives.
The Design & Modeling Solutions team within the Global Technology IT organization architects and develops IT solutions and provides technical guidance and business process expertise on Engineering Application projects involving CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM and research strategic planning matters from a technical and business standpoint. The quality of our service is ensured through our implementation of industry standard ITIL practices. We act as a technology expert resource to support Global Technology teams.   


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop software in accordance with functional requirements. Conduct full unit and integration testing scenarios. Document and write operational instructions for all work requirement which may serve as training material for the stakeholder community or operational group. Leverage development toolchain to automate and streamline whenever possible the software development process.

  • Troubleshoot and develop solutions to problems with unknown causes by applying logic, inference, persistence, and experience with creative initiative. Confer with stakeholder community on problem determination. Make joint analysis decisions on cause and correction methods. Provide cross-functional support and maintenance for responsible areas. Perform tasks necessary to ensure data integrity and system stability.

  • Works with product owner and team members to understand requirements. Monitor code quality and technical debt and make sure agreed upon targets are met.

  • Assume basic Team Lead assignments from task planning through implementation of small systems or components of larger complex system. Supervise junior level team members when appropriate.  Track to project plans. Monitor results and make adjustments to priorities in order to accomplish objectives on time and under budget.

  • Investigate and report on latest information technologies, techniques and processes that could digitally enable business strategies. Increase breadth and depth of technical knowledge by expanding knowledge base.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or related field

  • 5+ years’ experience in applying current information technology to specific areas of the business. General knowledge of a broad business process.

  • Experience with Dassault Systems' CATIA V5 Automation API for Visual Basic or equivalent.

  • 5+ years’ experience in VB.NET and experience with modern toolchains.

  • Teamcenter knowledge is desired

  • Associate must work under broad supervision and interacting with user representatives on a regular basis

  • Associate must possess basic organizational, communication, and time management skills. Should have an excellent track record of completing assignments in a timely and accurate manner.

  • This position interacts with all levels of the organization: support, staff, and management. The position may also interact with external customers to consult on technical or business process expectations.
