About the Position 


This position is responsible for providing the  technical support for the Applied Physical Metrology Lab, which  includes upkeep and trouble shooting  of the equipment by working with facilities, IT, and  equpment vendors and installation of new equipment.
The position requires working  closely with Global Material Science, the Luxembourg APM lab and equipment vendors to develop material characterization tests and assessing  new equipment.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement products, processes, methods that meet internal and external customer requirements. Support evaluation of  products, processes, methods and obtain results. Contribute to manufacture of quality products and processes.

  • Communicate and solve problems and trouble shooting equipment

  • Translate product needs to experimental data or design parameters

  • Work with teams and product groups to bring technology to market

  • Obtain required training and skill development for position specific skills and personal development


Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or chemical  engineering  or related technical  field and 2+ years experience in technical field required

  • Master's Degree  in mechanical or chemical  engineering  or related technical  field desired

  • 2+ years progressive experience in R&D: rubber compound development, tire development, material development, or mechanical/automotive engineering.

  • Experience with lab equipment operataions with some knowledge of programming and robotics

  • Experience with Material testing and characterization

  • Experience with Mixing and processing of compound


Skills and Abilities

  • Good communication skills.  

  • Good computer skills with variety of programs.

  • Knowledge of statistical design & analysis; cause & effect analysis & risk analysis.

  • Understanding of technical drawings & procedures.  Comfortable with hands on work with equipment.

  • Project planning, communication & experimentation skills. Ability to handle multiple projects.
