About the Position

Support and lead  projects with multi-functional teams.  Primary responsibilities will be lab equipment acquisition and maintenance, optimization and globalization of testing processes, and development of new test methods to align with Global Material Science product development needs.  They will help coordinate special customer test requests with the other engineers in the lab and other departments.

Work with modelers to help develop tests  and support  testing to provide data to support modeling requirements.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering/Chemistry/Material Science/Physics
  • PMP or similar engineering / project management certifications.  MS, PhD in related engineering field desired
  • 7+ years experience required.
  • Material development experience ( >5 years)
  • Compound development experience for at least 2 different product areas (ie consumer and commercial)
  • Experience with tire plants to industrialize new compounds
  • Experience working with lab testing equipment


Skills and Abilities

  • Good understanding of the relation of lab data to compound properties and tire performance.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with x-functional teams.  Plan and lead meetings. Give clear and concise technical guidance. Offer constructive disagreement and the ability to manage/deflect/diffuse conflict. Lead in finding alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrate capability in a leadership role. Lead by example. Cooperate to meet business objectives.  Anticpate and mitiage risk. Be recognized as a leader in execution/completion/closeout of projects
