Primary Purpose
The Benefits Analyst, Leave of Absence will serve as the day to day administrator for Leave of Absence processing and executing the responsibilities with direct supervision (hourly and salaried associates in the U.S). Will also provide support to the Benefits team as may be required and will liaise between Leave COE and Benefits COE to provide service continuity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Point of contact for employees/managers/HR requesting a leave of absence. Establishes rapport, guides, communicates and supports the associate through the leave process as needed. Serves as the primary point of contact for communications either by phone, email, and regular mail, with employees regarding all leaves of absence and related processes. Oversees integration of leaves (i.e. Worker's compensation with FMLA) and integration with other functions (benefits during LOA, payroll, etc.). Refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Interprets and understands all relevant and required documentation for a leave of absence, according to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Leverage internal and external resources to monitor legislation and market trends. Stays abreast of current federal and state regulations. Obtains and reviews updated medical evidence of reason for leave.
- Provide regular reporting, audit and training on the leave of absence process (including FMLA). Partners with HR to ensure timely communication to associates.
- Responsible for managing absence and time records through various systems. Ensures all integrations are working properly. Records leaves and adjusts status in varrious systems, maintaining accurate records of employee leaves in full legal compliance.
- Assists the Sr. Benefits Manager with other duties within the benefits space as assigned, which could include benefits correspondence for associates and coordination of annual and mid-year reviews with benefit vendors.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree
- 2 years' experience in HR, with emphasis in benefits and/or leave administration strongly preferred
- ·Prior experience with a union manufacturing environment is preferred
