Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Business Communications Manager is responsible for leading communications that support the customer marketing, sales leadership, original equipment and commercial teams by creating and executing comprehensive communications plans that impact Goodyear's external stakeholders, including trade and industry media, dealer and original equipment manufacturing customers and commercial fleets. This individual is also responsible for internal content creation to inform Goodyear associates of key business activities in the Americas region. 

Scope includes management of programs that highlight Goodyear's consumer tires and technology among original equipment manufacturers, dealers and retailers, as well as Goodyear's total solution of trusted products, service network and tire management solutions among commercial dealers and fleets. This individual will need to manage multiple projects simultaneously across a variety of stakeholders and translate technical information into easy-to-understand content. Will also work closely with sales and customer marketing teams to assist with customer adoption of Goodyear innovations and arm sales team members with messaging to address key activations and potential reputational issues. 

This individual will need to develop a strong understanding of Goodyear's customer audiences and Commercial business priorities and proactively formulate strategies to deliver key messages to all stakeholders, measure results and derive insights for continuous improvement. 

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:     
•    Provides communications support to the customer marketing, sales leadership, original equipment and commercial teams to create and execute communications plans that engage the sales team, Goodyear's external stakeholders and internal associates in Goodyear's customer-facing activities. •    Leads the process for hosting in-person or virtual trade media events, including Goodyear's customer-facing product launch strategy at key trade shows throughout the year. 
•    Manages formal content for Goodyear's customer communications program, working across multiple organizations to ensure a steady stream of communications touchpoints, including events, virtual presentations and direct messages, to get key messages across to customers. Content may range from program changes, new product launches and relevant company announcements.
•    Manages Goodyear's editorial calendar for trade and other media, including proactive and reactive opportunities to promote Goodyear, its products and services. Includes interviewing subject matter experts, drafting content, obtaining approvals and pitching to secure earned media coverage.
•    Develops and maintains measurement KPIs, including earned media coverage performance and customer communications effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement of the Americas' customer communications efforts.

 

Education:
Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in communications, journalism or marketing.

 

Experience:
•    7+ years of experience in a communications field.
•    Experience working with the media, particularly trade and industry outlets.
•    Experience developing and implementing creative communications strategies. 
•    Affinity for digital communication platforms, including virtual presentations, social media and video. 
•    Strong understanding of CRM tools.

 

Knowledge:
•    Must be self-directed, task oriented.
•    Must have superior writing skills.
•    Frequent and positive interaction with senior leadership.
•    Ability to be nimble and work in a fast-paced setting that requires multitasking.
•    Must have ability to identify storytelling that resonates with customers.
