The Communications Manager – Global Technology is responsible for building Goodyear’s Innovation brand both internally/externally by delivering compelling storytelling to a variety of stakeholders. This position will take an active and leading role in shaping Goodyear’s storytelling efforts across our Technology and Innovation teams; finding ways to advance Goodyear as a thought leaders and the company’s pivotal place in the future of mobility.

 

Job Functions

  • Internal Communications - Build, execute and measure an omni-channel internal communications plan for the Global Technology function that is focused on employee engagement, recognition, long-term vision and other key areas. The candidate should be ready to adjust as he/she receives feedback from associates. Channels include: Town halls, written communications, videos, Yammer and more.
  • Build Innovation Brand - Work with public relations (PR) agency to drive highly visible media opportunities for CTO and other members of the Technology leadership team. Build/Leverage media contacts for proactive pitching.
  • Find appropriate conferences and other venues for Goodyear Technology leaders to appear at and deliver Goodyear messaging.
  • Use external coverage and appearances to drive associate pride.
  • Presentation and Written Communications Excellence - Develop best-in-class speaker/presentation materials for a variety of meetings.
  • Create concise, high-quality messaging and written materials for CTO and other key leaders.
  • Ability to navigate a global organization intent on consistent exchange of information (across the globe) and connection between regional teams.
  • Work closely with Global Technology leadership and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to manage the internal communications support for Goodyear’s global network of technology associates.
  • In partnership with Human Resources (HR), the incumbent will deliver communications with an inspiring, long-term vision and a consistent cadence of associate recognition.
  • Key driver of positioning Goodyear externally as a technology-led mobility company and finding ways to drive that messaging through social, earned, and owned channels.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, curious mind-set to develop relationships with associates to mine and find stories that are worthy of broad audiences.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism or a related field
  • 7 or more years of experience working in Communications for a large global company and/or public relations firm
  • Previous Communications experience in an organization that emphasizes technology
  • Global mind-set coupled with hands-on experience - Working across geographies in a matrix environment
  • Previous concentration on finding stories and capitalizing on them through various internal/external channels

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism or a related field

  • Ability to translate complex technical information into writing for a broad audience
  • A proactive and curious mindset
  • Resiliency and persistence to drive ideas from inception to completion
  • An appetite to create connections
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding and collaborative environment
