Position Purpose:

The Director Global Supply Chain Strategy Deployment and Flow will evolve the existing Supply Chain strategic operating framework with internal/external good practices. This position will lead the building of new capabilities into Supply Chain (e.g., plant optimization [PO] flow, resilience and sustainability). The incumbent will ensure alignment of the Supply Chain strategy with those of relevant geographies (all strategic business units (SBUs)/functions - Specifically PO, Sustainability, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales and Marketing).

They will make certain the strategy and deployment balances conflicting share, cost and cash objectives to optimize results and best meet SBU expectations. This role will develop/leverage analytics to highlight gaps and demonstrate capabilities/results-based progress. The Director Global Supply Chain Strategy Deployment and Flow will confirm the organization for deployment is effective/efficient - Leveraging the Global Virtual Process Improvement Team (GVPIT).

In addition, this position will monitor/facilitate the effectiveness of the GVPIT - Reporting on progress in terms of maturity, agility, responsiveness, flow and results delivered. The incumbent will maintain awareness of internal/external best practices and relevance to Goodyear. They will support the (central) Supply Chain organization in the development of processes, tools, standards and metrics - Ensuring the successful implementation of Goodyear’s end-to-end materials and information flow. In addition, the associate will address current process challenges and facilitate the move of functional planning process steps (that are executed sequentially) into an end-to-end planning process that allows for concurrent planning.


Primary Duties:

  • Collaborate with other teams to improve critical/new capabilities:
    • PO on Supply Chain flow/responsiveness
    • Sustainability team on new capabilities to measure/manage greenhouse gases (GHG)
    • Procurement, planning and business continuity to build improved risk management/resilience
    • Information Technology (IT) on leveraging analytics for improved decision making
  • As the designated co-leader of the Supply Chain Flow GVPIT and other global subject matter experts (SMEs), collaborate with PO flow pillar to develop/pilot processes, define relevant master data/parameters and define the standards/metrics that will enable the SBU teams to improve flow/responsiveness. Provide a continuous focus on capability enhancements and organizational maturity - Driving the mindset of the organization/associates.
  • Translate global/regional/functional requirements, best practices and concepts into recommendations and prioritized initiatives to optimize cash, cost and share to meet SBU objectives. Help document/prioritize relevant initiatives to deliver the Supply Chain strategy and annual operating plan (AOP). Build/Leverage the GVPIT concept - Enabling all SBUs to collaborate on delivering Supply Chain initiatives. Monitor progress through the GVPITs and ensure escalation/recognition is appropriate.
  • Ensure initiatives are prioritized/re-prioritized and aligned across SBUs - Helping to deliver on their strategic needs.
  • Maintain/Communicate the Supply Chain operating framework and operations strategy documentation so that it is easily understood, engaging and understood by stakeholders. Ability to drive/provide strong communications and information sharing to key stakeholders.
  • Assess Supply Chain risks/performance and ensure initiatives are aligned to mitigate risks. Ensure resources are deployed effectively and maximize performance - Reporting status through a well-coordinated communication plan


Required Experience:

  • 10 or more years of experience in Operations and/or Supply Chain 
  • Bachelors degree in Economics, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain or a related field, Masters degree preferred
  • Solid background in Supply Chain and/or Strategy Deployment
  • Experience in a heavily matrixed organization, with a strong geographical/business unit approach and influencing ability
  • Successfully led Supply Chain transformation projects (across functional, geographic and business unit structures) – Desired
  • Ability to manage complex processes and drive efficiency improvements
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills - Interacting with people in a variety of functions (globally)
  • Ability to work with remote teams in an effective manner
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies
  • Understand operations strategy, product supply, production planning, and other related sales and operations (S&OP) processes
