About the Position
Goodyear’s EHS Engineer Associate will drive programs by implementing and managing strategies to promote a safety culture where "No One Gets Hurt." They will work closely with the Global Technology EHS Lead(s) to provide: resources, guidance, recommendations, and consultation. In addition, provide regulatory guidance on facility projects, risk management, and compliance oversight. This position may require management of one or more facilities and may require national and/or international travel.
The EHS Engineer Associate manages compliance to new & existing regulations/requirements. Manages and participates in a global effort to implement systems/processes to include auditing for EHS compliance to Goodyear policy as well as region, country, state & local regulations. Additionally, this role will be responsible for identifying innovative methods to reduce the cost & time required for compliance. They will also be responsible for developing investment with cost analysis on EHS (regulatory) requirements, and to develop/manage communications with support from the communication group towards external regulatory agencies. Moreover, they provide input to & influence the overall strategy of the EHS organization.
Responsibilities
EHS Leadership
- Lead the EHS program for their assigned location(s)
- Is the on-site tactical support for their respective location(s)
- Lead location(s) safety committees
- Lead EHS Risk Assessments and complete Job Safety Analyses for new R&D test equipment, R&D prototyping equipment and processes
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action definition for all safety related incidents
- Near miss resolution, First-Aid and Recordable injury incident investigation, root cause analysis and defining corrective action plans.
- Uses the hierarchy of controls to reduce risk within the facilities, during project development, and for near miss/incident corrective action.
- Communicate corrective actions to the organization and ensure standards and procedures are updated as required
EHS Strategic Actions
- Achieves the annual AOP targets for EHS performance in their location(s). This includes, but is not limited to, leading, lagging, and medical surveillance indicators.
- Prepare safety and health awareness, education, and training programs.
- Ensure programs and systems implemented for plant associates, contractors, temporary workers, and new hires.
Internal & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure facilities are in compliance to Government regulations, all related documentation and approvals are submitted to those agencies
- Develop and manage communications with regulatory agencies, with support from communications group.
Industrial Hygiene
- Prepare and implement industrial hygiene monitoring program in accordance with Goodyear and government requirements
Education and Experience
- BS in environmental, safety, or industrial hygiene, required
- Certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental, highly desired
- MS Environmental, Health, & Safety, desired
- 1-3 years industrial safety
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Desire to work in a dynamic, ever-changing environment
- Experience managing EHS programs
- Knowledge of machine guarding, LOTO, Management of Change (MOC), and Safety Management Systems
- Program, policy, and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) writing experience.
- Experience using 5 Why or Fishbone diagrams for root cause identification.
- Hazardous Waste Management experience/knowledge.
