About the Position
Global Manufacturing and Engineering has the responsibility to invent, design, specify and deliver product and process technologies to make Goodyear’s Business Strategies achievable. This department engineers and integrates new commercial technologies and custom designs to support new products and increased manufacturing capability. This position is responsible for supporting and propagating existing controls technologies and investigating and implementing new controls technologies. 
 

The successful candidate is responsible for supporting the development of projects with low to moderate complexity or working on complex projects in cooperation with more experienced personnel. The incumbent seeks solutions to technical problems, conducts work on assigned tasks and exhibits enough process knowledge to be able to operate in the field. The incumbent will design and program PLC's, Drives, and HMI's. Incumbent will also work on software to interface to Level 1 and other machine computers. Incumbent should have experience drawing and reading electrical schematics. Domestic and international travel is expected to be up to 15% per year and occasional off-hours work is required. 

This individual will work with other engineers, as well as engineering and IT contractors and suppliers. The individual will also work closely with all GME process teams, IT, Reliability, Quality, and Production.

• Improve and enhance project management tools and standards of execution for assigned projects. Execute the steps required in initiating a project. Deliver project objectives through project planning. Offer enhancements that can be cross functional, divisional, or global in application.
• Continuously improve on project risk management process to drive higher levels of risk management. Enhance exiting project execution tools and techniques to deliver projects. Improve project closeout process. Enhance and improve existing conflict resolution process. Seek assistance when needed to resolve conflicts. Participate in project scope development, project facilitation/coordination from planning through commissioning.
• Accurately and systematically document designs, specifications, and processes. Create tools and systems to provide users with efficient and effective processes. Assemble documentation and specification for automation control and/or interface programming for capital equipment installations and upgrades.

Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Science/Technology/Engineering/Math, required.
  • Due to legal requirements Latin America candidates must possess Engineering Degree.
  • Desired: PE, PMP or similar engineering / proj. management certifications. MS, PhD in related engineering field.
• 2+ years of experience in related field
• Programming and troubleshooting PLC's, HMIs, and Drives in a manufacturing environment
• Improve skills through application of knowledge gained from additional education/experience/training.
• Understand functional relationships of assigned division. Interact with team and organizations.
• Participate in cross-functional assignment, projects, and divisional initiatives, for improved self-development.

• Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment controls including electrical distribution, schematics, and controls
