About the Position 

Global Manufacturing and Engineering (GME) has the responsibility to invent, design, specify, and deliver product and process technologies to make Goodyear business strategies achievable.  This department engineers and integrates commercial technologies and custom designs to support new products and increased manufacturing capability.  It also provides direct and timely support to plant production, engineering, maintenance and energy conversation.  As part of GME, the Component Prep team is globally responsible for manufacturing equipment that prepares components for the tire assembly process  - fabric/wire calenders, extruders, cutters, slitters, beadwinders, apexers, etc.


The successful candidate will primarily be responsible to design and implement electrical controls and computer systems for component prep machines and processes.  The incumbent should have experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC's and HMI's.  Incumbent will specify, document, purchase, and implement controls hardware and software for component prep equipment - often working with more experienced electrical and/or mechanical engineers.  This individual will also work closely with Corporate Facilities Planning, Tire Engineering, Regional Quality, and/or Plant Engineers during project scope development phases.  Due to the nature of project support, domestic and international travel is expected to be around 25% and occasional off-hours work is required.

Required Education and Experience 

  • BS Electrical or Computer Engineering. 
    • Other engineering disciplines may be considered commensurate with relevant experience.
    • PE, PMP or similar engineering / project management certifications desired.
    • MS or PhD in related engineering field desired.
  • 2+ years of experience with degree or 7+ years of experience without degree.
  • Improve skills through application of knowledge gained from additional education/experience/training.
