Engineer Principal. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Akron, OH. Lead the technical development of digital tools for tire-related systems calibration. Provide technical mentoring and support to team members on virtual and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) development tools. Plan and secure resources from the organization for projects. Establish project plan and manage the project timeline for on-time execution of project activities. Prepare project updates and communicate with internal stakeholders. Act as a stakeholder in selected virtual technology initiatives and projects. Stay abreast of state-of-the-art virtual simulation methods inside and outside the tire industry.
Need Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Degree program must include at least 3 courses in solid mechanics and finite element simulations or need 18 months of research experience in solid mechanics and finite element simulations. Three years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Engineer, or related role within the tire or automotive industry. Three years of experience with active development of new predictive technologies for tire-related simulations. Three years of experience in applying Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to tire mechanics. 18 months of experience in leading and managing a team of numerical simulation experts. 18 months of experience in leading or managing cross-functional projects for the development of new technologies to meet business requirements. One year of experience in developing data driven predictive methods for applications in the automotive industry.
