Primary Purpose
Develop and implement new algorithms and capabilities for multi-physics tire analysis in the Goodyear in-house FEA code (based on Sandia National Lab Sierra Analysis Code Suite). Leverage solver knowledge to develop modeling methods, train users, and support tire development projects.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize algorithms and code for FEA simulations, focusing on performance on HPC systems.
- Collaborate with developers at Goodyear and Sandia National Lab to create and execute code development strategy and resolve code development and application challenges.
- Conduct performance analysis and debugging to ensure efficient code execution on CPU and GPU hardware.
- Document code and development processes for future reference and team collaboration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and apply methods for predicting tire performance.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or any related fields is required
- Master’s degree or Doctorate degree in Engineering, Physics or any related fields is highly preferred).
- Experience in FEA code development and HPC environments.
- Proficiency in C++, Python, Linux, and Git.
- Strong understanding of computational mechanics and numerical methods.
- Strong understanding of solid mechanics.
- Understanding of Rubber physics, cord-rubber composites, non-linear contact, non-linear large deformations, implicit and explicit methods.
- Familiarity with parallel computing (MPI) and GPU programming.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to diagnose and solve complex FEA simulation and coding problems.
- Good communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with management, other developers, and users.
- Self-motivated individual.
- Team player with enthusiasm and initiative.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of thermal/fluid mechanics, structural dynamics
- Code QA principles and methods
- Familiarity with FEA software: Experience with Abaqus, ANSYS, or similar FEA tools.
- Knowledge of Sierra codes and conjugate gradient based solvers.
- Knowledge of machine learning and its applications in FEA.
- Knowledge of FEA pre and post processing methods
- Interest in the automotive world and virtual product development.
