Program Description

 

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, headquartered in Akron, Ohio, is looking for talented leaders to significantly strengthen its global leadership depth and play an integral role in the current and future success of the organization. The Akron Facilities & Services Co-op/Intern Program provides engineering, technology students and other candidates with a strong building trade experience the opportunity to build themselves with practical work experience in one of many fast paced and diverse areas of Project Management with a focus on building construction and maintenance. The program allows the organization to build a pipeline of candidates for future permanent openings, and the students gain a better understanding of the various job opportunities available throughout Goodyear.  Ideally, the Akron Facilities & Services co-ops and interns become permanent Goodyear associates after graduation.

 

In addition to challenging, engaging and interesting work assignments, students have the opportunity to meet and interact with students from other universities at work and outside of work. Tours of Goodyear facilities are arranged to help students learn more about the business. Goodyear leaders make presentations to help students begin to think about significant business issues and career options. Students even have the opportunity to speak with the Goodyear Senior Leadership Team.

 

Requirements

 

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in the following: Civil, Construction, Electrical, Industrial & Mechanical Engineering, Technology (Electrical, Facilities & Mechanical)
  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA required
  • Must have completed first year of classes (incoming sophomore level or higher)
  • Demonstrated leadership and growth potential
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and data management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment as well as work independently

 

Ideal Candidates

 

  • Value and appreciate diversity
  • Adaptability, with a focus on scheduling and management of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Are capable of interacting with all organization levels, ranging from entry-level associates to Goodyear’s senior management
  • Experience with computer-based project management database systems
