FINANCE DIRECTOR, AMERICAS OPERATIONS

 

The Finance Director Americas Operations is responsible for leading Finance teams (~50 associates) supporting our Americas Manufacturing & Supply Chain operations. The Americas is the largest operating region at Goodyear with a highly complex and scaled manufacturing and supply chain footprint supporting more than $12bn in revenue. This includes 27 manufacturing sites across North Americas and LatAm.

 

This person will be a key business partner to the Supply Chain, Procurement and Manufacturing organizations in driving the strategic initiatives necessary to achieve annual goals and objectives. He/She will collaborate with the business, gaining alignment cross-functionally and leading transformational, strategic and other initiatives to drive efficiencies, lower costs and improve Americas bottom line and cash flows. This role is responsible for the consolidation and reporting of all Americas producer business unit (PBU) operations finance activities (including monthly X+Y forecasting and monthly operating review [MOR] presentations - Directly advising Americas Leadership team members in developing their annual operating plan [AOP], stretch targets and MOR messaging).

 

The Finance Director Americas Operations is also responsible for all finance and business-related activities within these groups and supports other finance related initiatives as part of the strategic business unit (SBU) Finance teams (including the development of finance talent for the organization).

 

Team & Reporting: this person will manage a team of approximately 50 Goodyear Associates, with 3 key direct reports. The role reports to our Vice President, Finance for Global Manufacturing & Supply Chain.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Partner with business/functional leaders to identify and align on opportunities to increase efficiencies and reduce costs in our manufacturing footprint and supply chain - optimizing working capital and driving cost reductions in plant indirect spend. Lead initiatives (both transformational and tactical) and dedicated project teams related to these areas to deliver bottom-line improvements, reduce cost per tire and/or improve working capital in a repeatable and sustainable way.  Provide business partnering support for strategic actions of the business (including footprint optimization, divestitures, acquisitions, etc).

 

  • Provide oversight for a team of approximately 50 Finance associates across multiple locations in the Americas. This includes establishing/driving individuals towards an aligned vision, developing annual SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound) goals, creating succession plans, performing annual performance reviews, developing plan processes and ensuring a diversified/engaged workforce. Actively participate on leadership committees related to talent management, engagement and other people-related topics (as necessary.

 

  • Perform financial reporting and analysis for Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Americas Procurement (including AOP and X+Y forecast process, monthly reporting and financial analysis requirements and ad-hoc requests to support decision making). Ensure accuracy and data integrity. Manage the quarterly letter of representation process and communicate findings to leadership.

 

  • Advise members of the Americas Leadership team and C-suite on a variety of topics (including the AOP and strategy, MOR messaging, opportunities for improvement, risk mitigation and the monthly X+Y forecast.

 

  • Complete analyses and provide recommendations to Americas leadership on how to optimize and prioritize capital expenditure (CAPEX) spend to ensure efficient use of the company’s free cash flow on the highest return projects.

 

KEY EXPERIENCES

 

  • Finance Leadership - 10 or more years of experience working in various Finance roles, with progressive responsibility - 5 or more of those years in a lead management role.
  • Manufacturing – experience working in a complex manufacturing and supply chain environments, ideally with experience in plant finance roles.
  • 3 or more years of experience performing financial analysis.
  • Talent Development - experience in building a high-performing Finance team - Developing talent for the organization as evidenced by advancement and success of team members.
  • Education:
    • Required: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a related field;
    • Desired: Masters degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a related field.

 

KEY SKILLS

 

  • Strong knowledge, understanding and practical skills in relevant systems (i.e., enterprise resource planning [ERP] system [SAP preferred], Microsoft Office products, Hyperion or similar applications.
  • Ability to practically apply lean/continuous improvement techniques.
  • Change management experience - Focused on getting large groups “on board”
  • Partnering skills (including the ability to draw on the ideas of key team members and convert them into meaningful strategies/plans).
  • Agility/Ability to balance multiple work demands
  • Experience leading cross-functional change efforts
  • High-level of business/functional acumen.
