Primary Purpose of Position:
 
This position is responsible for supporting the development of complex projects. The incumbent seeks solutions to technical problems, conducts work on assigned tasks and exhibits process knowledge to be able to operate in the field independently. This individual will be responsible to design and implement controls-based applications to interface with IT systems and machine controls. Incumbent should be capable of leading design and implementing PLC projects, assist & lead ensuring the equipment complies with all safety, environmental & other regulatory compliances, and assist to ensure the proper design, installation, modification & maintainability of new & existing plant equipment.


Due to the nature of project support, domestic and international travel is expected to be up to 25% per year as well as some off-hours work

 

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in & learn process for prepare cost estimates, financially justifying projects, prepare budgets, review design, supervise installation & commissioning. Assists in research of new equipment, systems & processes to advance plant operations.
  • Gain understanding & assist to ensure safety, environmental & other regulatory compliances by working with appropriate associates on EHS issues, following the implementation of MSR’s & continually improving the communication across all relevant departments.
  • Participate in contractor management process & periodically audit contractor’s work to ensure that safe work practices & standard operating procedures are followed.

 
Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Science /Technology /Engineering/Math.
  • Desired: PE, PMP or similar engineering / project management certifications.
  • 7 years' experience
  • Required: control systems, PLC programming (RSLogix), VFD's, HMI's, servos, equipment design, automation engineering, project management.
  • Preferred:  Industry 4.0 & data base messaging; Communication protocol. 

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Ability to use appropriate computer-based technology, interpret & create technical CAD drawings & schematics.
  • Ability to understand electrical or mechanical diagrams.
  • Ability to program & debug programming languages & understand & troubleshoot machine problems.
  • Knowledge in design electrical control systems.
  • Ability to understand & design modern safety control systems.
