About the Position
The Global Ergonomics Leader will enhance workplace safety and employee well-being by applying ergonomic principles to the design and evaluation of Goodyear’s work environments. The primary goal of this position is to identify risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders and provide the systems, standards, and processes necessary to mitigate these risks, and where feasible, leverage known solutions to control risks globally.
This role is dedicated to delivering effective ergonomic solutions to our internal customers. By working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, procurement, health and safety professionals, and management, the position leverages detailed analyses of ergonomic risks, designing and implementing ergonomic solutions with global impact, and building capability of plant, region, and global teams to apply ergonomic principles. The aim is to bring innovative solutions to our operations, ensuring a safer and more productive work environment for all employees.
Responsibilities
- Champion Known Solutions: Evaluate work environments to identify ergonomic risk factors and current solutions which can be replicated across sites / regions to reduce current risk.
- Design New Solutions: Partner cross-functionally to develop and implement ergonomic interventions to prevent new risk from entering the plants.
- Govern Ergonomic Tools and Systems: Manage ergonomic tools and software to support ergonomic initiatives. Analyze Ergonomic Risk: Collect and analyze data related to workplace injuries and ergonomic risks to inform decision-making and track the effectiveness of interventions
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with engineers, procurement, health and safety professionals, and management to integrate ergonomic principles into workplace design and processes including Goodyears General Equipment Catalog.
- Develop Training Programs: Create and deliver training to educate associates and management on ergonomic best practices and risk mitigation strategies.
- Promote Ergonomic Awareness: Advocate for ergonomic improvements and foster a culture of safety and well-being within the organization.
- Monitor Compliance: Ensure that ergonomic practices comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Report Findings: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on ergonomic assessments, interventions, and outcomes for internal stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest ergonomic research and technologies to continuously improve workplace ergonomics.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Science/Ergonomics/Human Factors Engineering, required
- Certification in the application of ergonomic principles (Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics BCPE), desired
- 7+ years' progressive experience in ergonomic program management, design, and governance.
- Mastery of ergonomic assessments and problem-solving tools to address risk factors.
- Ability to teach and implement ergonomic improvements and preventive systems.
- Experience in developing and governing ergonomic strategies across multiple locations.
- Cross-functional project leadership/management experience in industrial/manufacturing operations at site and regional levels.
Knowledge and Skills
- Workplace Design: Skills in designing and modifying workstations, tools, and equipment to improve ergonomics.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and make informed recommendations.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with ergonomic assessment tools and software, such as Velocity / Humantech / Benchmark.
- Risk Assessment Tools: Ability to use risk assessment tools and methodologies, such as 3D motion capture.
- Project Management: Ability to manage ergonomic projects, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
