About the Position

Reporting directly to the HR Manager, Global IT, the Human Resources Specialist is responsible for providing human resources support and guidance to Global functions client group(s) within Finance and IT. This position will lead and direct the day to day HR operations, processes and initiatives; including performance management, compensation, recruitment, employee relations, policy interpretation and organizational development in support of the designated client group(s) within Finance and IT. While the role is focused on the day to day support of the function within the US, there is a global component related to Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and the ongoing migration work to global shared services.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead key HR processes from a project management and transactional perspective, in support of the overall objectives for designated client group(s). Lead key HR activities within designated client group(s) including: Org and Talent, Performance Management, Merit Planning, Succession Planning and Talent Management.  Be a resource for your client group(s), HR Team, and HR colleagues in various centers of excellence on implementation, measurement and improvement of multiple HR processes (e.g. recruiting, succession planning, performance management, merit planning, HRIS).
  • Provides coaching and consultation to designated client group(s) on employee relations and human resource issues. Partner closely with both legal and management to ensure appropriate steps are taken to support business needs while adhering to all Goodyear policies and state/federal laws.  Conduct and manage investigations into harassment, discrimination, employee relations, fraud, theft and other allegations against the company, associates and management.  Work with management to recommend appropriate follow-up actions are taken based off investigation outcomes.
  • Owns the performance management process including conducting calibration sessions, consulting with designated client group(s) on dealing with poor performers, managing Performance Improvement Plans and partnering with management and legal regarding next steps for associates who do not successfully complete PIPs.  Lead organization recruitment needs, (including position description development, applicant tracking system utilization, interviewing, offer generation, transfers, etc.) for all positions within your client group(s).  Manage the engagement survey process, execution of survey, evaluating results, communications, action plans, and follow up.
  • HR support for early talent programs such as the Finance and IT Development Programs, Internships, and other development initiatives; including performance management, campus recruiting, rotation management, training and development, mentoring, associate engagement and overall partnership with management on early talent initiatives. Mentor and support HR development and HR Interns.
  • Lead and manage Immigration and Global Mobility cases within the designated client group(s).  Partner closely with Global Mobility, legal and regional counterparts to manage all Expat and Inpat activity.  Owns immigration case work for all H1-B and L-1 holders, including facilitating the Green card process for designated client group(s). 
  • Ad hoc reporting from various HRIS sources, and associated analytics. Make recommendations from data to drive performance improvement within HR, as well as Finance and IT. Develop HR process documentation and methods to communicate and educate managers on proper use of process (for example, recruiting process, on boarding process, exit process, etc.)


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's required, with a major in Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred
  • Master’s degree in HR or MBA with HR concentration preferred
  • Four+ of HR experience, with increasing accountability, responsible for core HR processes.  HR experience supporting clients in a global or multi-site environment preferred.  Experience investigating, analyzing and solving a myriad of complex associate relations issues  With a balance of process orientation, sense of urgency and attention to detail, the incumbent will have experience in delivering results across the full array of HR processes, such as recruiting, (internal) talent management, succession planning, compensation, on-boarding, and employee relations.  Prior interviewing experience and talent assessment.


Skills and Abilities

  • A basic understanding of labor law including FMLA, ADA, EEO, AAP preferred.  Familiarity with managing immigration (H1-B, Green card) processes and/or globally mobile employees (Expat/Inpats) a plus.  Through effective verbal and written communications skills, is able to present ideas and information clearly and persuasively to a wide range of audiences. Teamwork skills that establish and maintain credibility with business leaders and associates, HR Team members, and HR Centers of Excellence.  Strong base of business acumen, enabling an understanding of all key aspects of business operations.
