The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for providing Human Resource (HR) support/guidance to the Global Functions client group(s) within IT. This position will lead/direct the day-to-day HR operations, processes and initiatives (including performance management, compensation, recruitment, employee relations, policy interpretation and organizational development) in support of the designated client group(s) within IT. While the role is focused on the day-to-day support of the function within the United States (U.S,), there is a global component related to Talent Management/Acquisition and the on-going migration work to global Shared Services.

 

Job Functions

  • Lead key HR processes from a project management and transactional perspective, in support of the overall objectives for designated client group(s).
  • Lead key HR activities (hiring, organization/talent, performance/talent management and merit/succession planning) within designated client group(s).
  • Be a resource for your client group(s), HR teams/colleagues (in various centers of excellence [COEs]) regarding implementation, measurement and improvement of multiple HR processes (e.g., recruiting, succession planning, performance management, merit planning and HR information systems [HRIS].
  • Provide coaching/consultation to designated client group(s) regarding employee relations and HR issues.
  • Partner closely with both Legal and management to ensure appropriate steps are taken to support business needs, while adhering to all Goodyear policies and state/federal laws.
  • Conduct/Manage investigations into harassment, discrimination, employee relations, fraud, theft and other allegations against the company, associates and management.
  • Own the performance management process (includes conducting calibration sessions, consulting with designated client group[s] regarding the handling of poor performers and managing performance improvement plans and partnering with Legal/management regarding next steps for associates who do not successfully complete performance improvement plans [PIPs]).
  • Lead organization recruitment needs (includes position description development, applicant tracking system utilization, interviewing, offer generation, transfers, etc.) for all positions within assigned client group(s).
  • Manage the engagement survey process (includes execution of survey, evaluating results, communications, action plans and follow-up).
  • Responsible for ad-hoc reporting from various Human Resource Information System (HRIS) sources and associated analytics.
  • Make recommendations using data to drive performance improvement within client groups.
  • Develop HR process documentation and methods to communicate/educate managers on proper use of process (for example, recruiting/on-boarding/exit processes, etc).
  • Partner with Human Resource Service Center (HRSC) Representative to continue to identify process improvements and transfer of tasks to HRSC.   
  • Provide Lead/Manage immigration and global mobility cases (within the designated client group[s]). Partner closely with Global Mobility, Legal and regional counterparts to manage all expatriates (expats) and inpatriates (inpats) activity. Owns immigration case work for all H1-B and L-1 holders (including facilitating the green card process for designated client group[s]). 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a business related field
  • Four (4) or more years of experience in Human Resource - with increasing accountability/responsibility for core Human Resource processes
  • Experience investigating, analyzing and solving a myriad of complex associate relations issues - With a balance of process orientation, sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Experience in delivering results across the full array of Human Resource processes (such as recruiting, [internal] talent management, succession planning, compensation, on-boarding and employee relations)
  • Prior interviewing and talent assessment experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Human Resource experience supporting clients in a global and/or multi-site environment
  • Familiarity with managing immigration (H1-B, green card) processes and/or globally mobile employees (expat/inpats)
  • A basic understanding of labor law (including FMLA, ADA, EEO and AAP)

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Through effective communications (written/verbal) skills - Able to present ideas/information clearly/persuasively to a wide-range of audiences
  • Teamwork skills that establish/maintain credibility with business leaders/associates, HR team members and HR COEs
  • Strong base of business acumen - Enabling an understanding of all key aspects of business operations
