Reporting to the IT Department Manager, the Data Privacy Manger will manage increasing risks associated with collecting, transferring and using PII/Personal Data and Cyber Security, especially in Europe with the introduction of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May 2018. The Data Privacy Manager will promote a culture of PII/personal data protection compliance and will advise businesses, HR and IT Functions regarding risks associated with plans/programs.  This role will assist with Project Management teams assigned to review and implement actions related to privacy regulations and will manage uncertainties on the project with appropriate contingency and mitigation plans. This includes documenting and maintaining risks & issues. The Data Privacy Manager will monitor and control the Global PII/personal data protection program and maintain the project plan to ensure project success while assuring that the privacy regulations are documented and approved.


Specific duties and responsibilities of the Data Privacy Manager will include, but not be limited to the following:




•          Maintain overall responsibility for Goodyear’s Global PII/Personal data protection compliance program. Monitor compliance with applicable PII/personal data protection laws (especially GDPR, California, and Brazil for starters), including managing internal data protection activities, advising on data protection impact assessments, supporting the conduct of internal audits.

•          Inform and advise Goodyear and its employees about their obligations to comply with applicable data protection laws (including GDPR) through development of communication and training programs.

•          To maintain records of data processing activities and other necessary documentation which demonstrates compliance with applicable data protection laws/GDPR

•          Manage, either formally or through influence, the engagement of the assigned project team members to successfully execute the Global PII/Personal data protection compliance program. Develop the team dynamics to be effective at working together and develop individual team members with required training and coaching.

•          To be the first point of contact for supervisory authorities/regulators and for individuals whose data is processed (employees, customers, vendors etc).




•          5 + years of in-house experience building and leading a PII/personal data privacy compliance program.

•          Global company and/or advising global companies in relation to their data privacy compliance programs desired not required.

•          Detailed understanding of the EU General Data Protection Regulation as well as other federal, state, or local data privacy regulations and programs desired not required.

•          Fluent English (mandatory), Fluency in one or more European languages e.g. French, German, Spanish (Highly desirable not required) 






•          BS degree in Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Technology, Business Administration, or related area.   

•          BSc in Law or security certification or Law Degree (passed a bar) desired not required.
