About The position:


The Immigration Specialist oversees the immigration program to assist foreign nationals with their United States (U.S.) immigration process. This position will ensure all paperwork (including the application for immigration and visas) are completed accurately and in a timely manner. The incumbent will be the primarily liaison with the external immigration counsel, Human Resources (HR), recruiting and hiring managers. He/She will be the initial resource for all of HR and employees - Answering questions about immigration policies/processes.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial resource for all U.S. bound associates - Responding to policy/immigration questions, advising internal stakeholders on the immigration process, reviewing issues/concerns and escalating to external counsel when necessary. Apply expertise to train/educate business stakeholders, managers and HR about immigration. Understand changes to immigration policies/regulations and communicate to stakeholders.

  • Process all non-immigration visa applications and permanent residency applications (including labor certifications, recruitment processes and I-140/I-148 filings) in partnership with the immigration counsel. Utilize a strong working knowledge of immigration policies/procedures to recommend the appropriate immigration strategy. Partner cross-functionally to collect various documents for all visa and permanent residency needs. Maintain various immigration files. Manage the monitoring of expiring work authorizations and process visa extensions in a timely fashion. Maintain any applicable notices (posted at company locations) as required by law

  • Manage daily operations and the relationship with external counsel. Act as the primary liaison. Ensure alignment on any in-progress or upcoming immigration cases.

  • Identify, recommend and provide methods to resolve problems. Update, simplify, enhance and optimize existing processes, procedures and policies for continuous improvement to the immigration process

  • Evaluate FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) tax exemptions and prepare verification documentation for employee international travel (as needed).


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Masters preferred

  • 3 or more years of experience working in Human Resources or Legal field 

  • Demonstrated understanding of immigration laws, policies and processes

  • Experience collaborating/communicating effectively across discipline and various levels of the organization


Desired Skills and Abilities                  

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, while working with highly confidential information

  • Strong prioritization skills and solid sense of accountability

  • Experience with Workday, Outlook, Visio and SharePoint programs / systems desired
