About the Position

 

Under the guidance of the Director, Global Business Continuity (BC), assist in leading Goodyear's BC Process and overall framework for all business units while focusing on a specific business unit's implementation of applicable strategies. Included are all activities targeted to reach operational resilience and manage through major incidents and crises.

 

This position will focus on the following:

Strategy: Propose, develop, and support all business continuity and operational risk activities - Aligning with senior management's risk tolerance for the region. 

Implementation: Facilitate/Implement the most practical regional risk and business continuity strategies - Aligned with present/escalating business risks/requirements in all manufacturing and non-manufacturing locations. 

Awareness: Nurture an effective, operationally resilient and business continuity culture.

Alignment and Synergies: Align with corporate/regional business continuity risk-based framework (as approved by operational leadership). 

 

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Development of a Regional Business Continuity/Risk Management Architecture:

  • Risk appetite evaluation, critical process identification/support in pre-planning, response and recovery phases. Assists in developing appropriate business continuity plans to address key regional risks and support critical processes. Oversees, monitors and challenges functional/local facility support personnel in manufacturing and non-manufacturing locations. Facilitates processing of business continuity data for effective simulations/projections through testing of business continuity plans. 

  • Leads the development of a regional business continuity strategy for sites/functions based on found risks and risk appetite - A strategy that covers and continually improves business continuity processes, adverse event preparation and management, good practices and lessons learned sharing, tools and auditing/testing. Oversees, monitors and challenges functional/local business continuity management (including planning activities).

  • Aligns/Supports defining priorities (with global business continuity) and other regions (acting as an internal risk management/ business continuity consultant). Supports the elaboration of policies/communication for leadership endorsement.

  • Manages risk and business continuity intelligence/benchmarking - Assuring related communication to/from/among relevant stakeholders (within the region) are aligned with global programs and policies (as needed). Generates/Develops stakeholders' awareness and understanding for business continuity and related return on investment (ROI)

  • Supports securing the necessary human/business continuity related resources (throughout the region) - Resources that are critical to strategy implementation, business continuity and organizational resilience generation. Develops practical processes, tools and templates for a pragmatic implementation of global/regional business continuity strategies.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree

  • CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) Certification by DRI

  • Master level and Auditor Certifications in Business Continuity by DRI International, Associate in Risk Management (ARM) desired

  • 8 or more years of experience in development, management, and successful implementation of business continuity related programs in a global organization with multiple business units, complex business structures and diverse production, logistics and retail processes

  • 5 or more years of experience in using BC software (FUSION Risk management, or other)

  • Proven skills in applying business continuity and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) related standards

  • Proven ability to work with diverse cultures (in all regions) - While focusing on goal, rather than obstacles and barriers

 

Skills and Abilities

  • View/Understand complex and conflicting information regarding business continuity process components - Implement into an easy-to-understand format/workstreams for all team members

  • Manage/Influence others (not direct reports) through communication of vision, mission, objectives, and strategies 

  • Maintain absolute integrity while managing sensitive/confidential matters

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Work well under minimal supervision
