Payroll Analyst

Primary Purpose:

The Payroll Analyst will join an existing team and be responsible for QA / Testing and overall Analysis of payroll transactions for Goodyear's Canada and North America payroll.  You will take the lead on transactional payroll analysis including conducting the QA testing when change requests are completed in Workday. i.e. new pay codes, new locations, unemployment rates, tax changes etc. Additionally you will review and interpret the request to ensure it is in line with pay practices and work to ultimately resolve. Working directly with our payroll vendor is key specially to follow-up, confirm, and validate the pay request was executed correctly and resulted in the correct pay.  Additionally, opportunities to improve processes is desired.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily oversight, direction, and quality control over the payroll transactions input. Process off cycle payments – review reasons why this occurs to see if it can be prevented in the future. Identify, initiate to resolution any process improvements.
  • Perform business process optimization.
  • Research and resolve complex pay inquiries and management requests for payroll response. Root cause analysis, finding the solution and implementing a fix so they don’t reoccur. Research and resolve problematic payroll issues  Run and review any reports needed for SLA’s and work with Management to work with provider to get aligned with the SLA's.

 

Required Education and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting / finance or a related field
  • Prior accounting , finance, or business experience. 
  • Payroll experience with a large company desired

 

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of applications and systems: MS Office (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Workday (Report Writer)
  • Well developed analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills that establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility quickly.
  • Ability to support accounting/finance decisions with logical evidence and persuasively present position.
  • Ability to communicate or present information, both verbally and written effectively with all levels of the organization
