Position Description:

The Payroll Manager will support payroll efforts for Goodyear North America including leading a team to provide first-class payroll processing support to over 25,000 associates across the US and Canada.  You will serve as payroll subject matter expert, functional consultant, and trusted advisor to finance, HR and IT business partners across the enterprise including providing direction and oversight to ensure third party payroll operations meet contract service level agreement.  Maintaining effective working relationships with HQ, plant, and retail HR and payroll staff to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization, and efficient payroll issue resolution is key.  Prepares and disseminates payroll program information to HR, managers and associates. 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manages a payroll operations staff as well as overall payroll activities for Goodyear North America.
  • Creates and maintains payroll process documentation including process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures, and process guides.
  • Manages third party payroll provider relationship for US and Canadian payroll operations.  addressed.
  • Proactively communicates payroll processing changes to staff, Human Resource Business Partners, and associates.
  • Researches and resolves complex pay issues.  Performs root cause analysis to identify issues and develops and implements enhancements to processes, systems, and controls.

 

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or related.
  • 7 + years of payroll experience preferably in a large, complex payroll operation.
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts and providing business analytics.
  • Experience with union payroll issues preferred.
  • In depth understanding of Workday (preferred) including reporting.
  • Reviewing business requirements and functional specifications for system development

 

Preferred Personal Skills/Attributes/and Qualifications:

  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to calculate gross to net payroll including a deep understanding of compensation programs and tax withholding.
  • Take initiative. Drive to deliver high quality payroll services.
