About the Position 
Goodyear is looking for a Senior RFID Engineer to join our Global Team! In this role you will support the global innovation and product development teams through development of RFID/TPMS and tire electronic solutions for passenger, commercial and race applications. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware and software of tire electronics and vehicle gateways.

    • Apply RFID/TPMS (Radio Frequency ID / Tire Pressure Monitoring System) and other sensor technologies to tires.     

    • Define and deliver a vision and strategy for improving current and developing new RFID technology.

    • Possess a comprehensive view of the competitive landscape and drive IP position through patent/trade secret applications and develop novel solutions around competitor IP.

    • Select electronic components that are custom, COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf), and a combination of both that will become standalone or integrated products. 

  • Partner with tire designers, manufacturing, customers, and hardware/software developers to innovate, develop, and support complete product and service solutions. 

    • Manage all phases of engineering from System Design to Customer Support.  

    • Engage with internal and external partners for technology and strategy development.

 

Required Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. 

    • Preferred Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

  • 4+ years’ experience in development and production of automotive qualified electronic products. 

    • Product design and fabrication of prototype electronics.

    • Testing and measurement of RF electronic performance.

    • Electronic systems design and specification.

    • Analytical Modeling.

    • Programming micro-controllers to implement product functions. 

    • Developing system requirements for electronic sensors.

  • Program/project management. 

    • Leading and participating in a cross-functional support team environment, sharing knowledge and experiences with other team members in support of team responsibilities.

  • Experience in Vehicle Dynamics a plus.

  • Experience in standardization initiatives is a plus.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in electronics hardware design and development.

  • Proficiency in one software programing language (C/C++, Python preferred).

  • Familiarity with BLE, WiFi and RF communication protocol.

  • Familiarity with CAN/J1939.

  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing Algorithm/GUI Development in MATLAB a plus. 

  • Proficiency in statistical design & analysis; cause & effect analysis & risk analysis.

  • DAQ/Interfacing of various Analog/Digital Sensors. Wireless Communication and Telemetry Principles and Systems.

  • Enthusiastic team player, self-learning with interest in automotive world
