About the Position:
Understand and stay up to date on all environmental regulations within the Regions, serving as the key technical consultant on environmental matters. Develop and implement strategies to ensure regulatory compliance at the Plants, support government interactions, and lead training initiatives. Monitor performance through audits and data collection, prepare reports, ensure corrective actions are taken, and adjust strategies as needed to maintain compliance and improve outcomes.
Job Duties:
- Direct Plant Environmental Managers at all locations in the Region in their efforts to minimize or eliminate solvents, waste to landfill, waste disposal costs, permit exceedances, compliance issues & environmental incidents.
- Develop & maintain programs to assure compliance with regulatory requirements & Goodyear policies. Develop & implement corrective actions to counter unsatisfactory trends. Develop & implement programs to minimize environmental releases & to assure proper disposal of all waste streams. Develop plans to identify environmental issues, liabilities & potential costs, including before real estate transfers.
- Ensure full participation in programs to eliminate non-compliance by regular auditing, corrective actions & follow up to completion.
- Prepare reports to document status. Conduct plant audits according to established schedule.
- Establish & maintain comprehensive environmental records to demonstrate compliance. Prepare & conduct educational & training programs & guides for Plant Environmental Managers.
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Sciences required
- Master’s Degree in Environmental Science Preferred
Experience:
- 7 + years of environmental management experience.
- Previous experience with a large global company desired.
- 2 + years of managerial or supervisory experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of environmental regulations & state of the art practices.
- Knowledge of governmental practices, policies & adult learning practices.
- Ability to develop, organize, direct programs & sell ideas.
- Good leadership, presentation, interpersonal & communication skills, both verbal & written.
