Position Summary
The Senior Accountant supports the monthly accounting and reporting for North American plants within the Centralized Plant Accounting team located in Akron. This includes journal entries, account reconciliations as well as reporting daily, monthly financials and forecasting of materials as well as SOX controls. Month end / quarterly close activities are a area of focus as well. This position works closely with plant finance to ensure that the balance sheet and all accounting is in accordance with GAAP and GY policy.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform financial reporting processes which includes but not limited to monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement close procedures, review account reconciliations, functional analysis (including but not limited to P&L, balance sheet and accounts), establishing judgmental reserve balances in accordance with predefined deadlines.
- Partner with various departments throughout Goodyear to implement effective Accounting tasks and financial analysis tools and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of a broad set of accounting principles and techniques. Works with financial transactions and related documentation within the organization.
Required Education and Experience
- Undergraduate Degree in accounting or finance or related.
- 3 + years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience
- Experience working in an environment requiring analytical response to a variety of business issues.
Desired Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates strong analytical abilities and a thorough understanding of GAAP.
- Ability to interpret and apply current US GAAP, accounting for complex transactions & internal controls in compliance with SOX.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. SAP is ideal
- Highly organized and ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate to present information, both verbally and written effectively with all levels of the organization.
