About the Role:
Goodyear Tire Intelligence & Solutions (GTIS) is seeking an experienced Senior Development Engineer with a strong background in automotive and commercial vehicle applications. This is a high-impact role that will contribute to the development of next-generation OE, Tier 1, autonomous vehicle, and fleet solutions. The ideal candidate will drive the design, validation, and integration of cutting-edge products while also assessing and managing 3rd-party supplier technologies to enhance Goodyear’s Tire and Service business offerings.
This role requires a technical leader with expertise in mechanical systems, supplier management, and functional process development—someone who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and is eager to push the boundaries of intelligent tire technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead product development initiatives for advanced tire intelligence solutions, ensuring seamless integration with automotive and commercial vehicle systems.
- Oversee the design, development, and validation of components, ensuring compliance with OEM, Tier 1, and fleet industry standards.
- Evaluate, validate, and integrate 3rd-party supplier components, ensuring alignment with Goodyear’s performance and quality benchmarks.
- Define and implement functional processes to enhance efficiency in product development, validation, and supplier engagement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and business teams to drive projects to successful completion.
- Utilize Catia (or similar CAD tools) to develop and review designs, ensuring manufacturability and performance optimization.
- Drive new process development and implementation, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and Goodyear’s strategic objectives.
- Apply expertise in automotive and commercial vehicle systems, including axles, suspensions, and vehicle electronics, to influence product design and performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, required.
- Master’s preferred.
- 6+ years of experience in tire industry, required.
- Automotive, commercial vehicle, or Tier 1 supplier environments experience desired.
- Proven experience in supplier management, including supplier validation and component release.
- Strong background in functional process development for product design, validation, and production.
- Proficiency in Catia (or similar CAD tools) for component and system-level design.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Expertise in component design, validation, and release processes.
- Experience with tire design, manufacturing processes, and integration into vehicle systems.
- Knowledge of automotive and commercial vehicle architectures, including axles, powertrain, and vehicle electronics.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to define and implement new engineering processes.
- Self-motivated, agile, and results-driven, with a proven ability to drive efforts to completion in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a team-oriented mindset, while also being comfortable working independently when needed.
