Responsibilities:

 

As a member of the Strategy and Business Development team and under the leadership of the VP Strategy and Business Development, the primary function of the Senior Director, Corporate Strategy is to:

 

  • Oversee and execute strategic initiatives that cut across the enterprise for the CEO and the Senior Leadership team
  • Solve high-impact problems and develop actionable solutions for the most challenging issues and opportunities facing the company, with a focus on corporate/global/business/cross-sector work for the CEO and Senior Leadership team
  • Identify future growth opportunities for the organization, with particular attention to the capabilities needed to operationalize and capture value from these areas.

 

 

The responsibilities of Senior Director, Corporate Strategy will include, but not be limited to the following:

 

  • Provide courageous thought leadership to business partners, including the Senior Leadership team, and other operating leaders on a broad range of business-critical topics
  • Identify and deconstruct business issues and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and significant influence management skills with the ability to gain credibility with Sr Leadership while challenging the status quo
  • Build “Executive ready” project deliverables that turn strategy into action, create a get it done mindset in the team
  • Assist in the creation, planning and execution of the Global Strategic Planning Process
  • Add personal insight, galvanize discussion and debate across the organization on key strategic issues, generating ideas and creative frameworks, and use a combination of facts, judgment, and personal impact to build credibility and influence outcomes
  • Manage Directors as they lead project teams to ensure expected quality, insight, ability and timing of projects is met ; oversee data analytics processes to ensure conclusions are grounded in fact
  • Directly manage project teams as required, working with directors, managers and analysts to drive outcomes
  • Proactively and effectively manages external resources and firms during projects and at other times while ensuring that Goodyear gets appropriate value from these engagements  
  • Execute against time-sensitive requests from the VP-Corporate Strategy and Business Development, as well as cross-functional business partners
  • Proactively take on additional responsibilities and projects as needed to continuously improve Goodyear’s performance.
  • Maintain an external mindset, including staying on top of consumer, competitive, technology, customer and macroeconomic/geopolitical trends
  • Lead the agenda for the key capabilities for all areas for the entire Global Strategy function (e.g. Recruiting, Training, Knowledge Management, etc.), create an effective recruiting, development  and retention machine for the Strategy function

 

Professional Experience & Competencies:

 

  • 10+ years of business experience in strategy consulting, related business analysis, functional line experience within strategy, marketing, finance, operations, or sales analytics with a history of demonstrated business success.
  •  7+ years of consulting experience with one of the blue-chip strategy consulting firms (Bain, BCG, McKinsey, etc.) or comparable strategy consulting firm / function.
  • Experience creating a diverse strategy function from the ground up that builds the strategy muscle for the enterprise not just the function, managing both direct and indirect teams as well as partnering with multiple businesses 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including strong PowerPoint / deck-writing skills; capable of catering a message appropriately for a given audience
  • Demonstrated track record of success working in a fast-paced setting while also working in the context of a large, complex, global organization where working across boundaries and leading through influence are keys to success
  • Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences; foreign language skills highly desired

 

Education:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree is required. 
  • MBA from a top-tier business school is strongly preferred.
