About the Position
Global Manufacturing and Engineering has the responsibility to invent, design, specify and deliver product and process technologies to make Goodyear’s Business Strategies achievable. This department engineers and integrates new commercial technologies and custom designs to support new products and increased manufacturing capability. This position is responsible for the development of projects with moderate complexity or working on complex projects in component preparation.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible to design and implement controls-based applications to interface with IT systems and machine controls. Incumbent should be capable of leading design and implementing PLC projects. Due to the nature of project support, domestic and international travel is expected to be up to 25% per year and occasion off-hours work is required.
This individual will work with other engineers, as well as engineering and IT contractors and suppliers. The individual will also work closely with all GME process teams, IT, SAP, MES, Reliability, Quality, Production, and Cyber Security.
Responsibilities

Provide equipment and process engineering expertise in component prep

Support Capital Projects globally for the specification, development, check-out, installation, and commissioning of Component Prep equipment

Provide remote support for plant machine and supervisory level controls, occasionally in off hours

Assemble documentation and specification for automation control and/or interface programming for capital equipment installations and upgrades

Maintain knowledge electrical machine controls: PLC/HMI platforms, AC Variable frequency drives, servo controls and National Electric Code standards

Coordination of contractors and/or vendors and plant for commissioning of equipment.

Participate in project scope development (internal & external), project facilitation/coordination through planning, installation and commissioning phases.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in science/Technology/Engineering/Math.

7+ years experience required.

Required experience: control systems, PLC programming (RSLogix), VFD's, HMI's, servos

Preferred experience: Industry 4.0 & data base messaging; Communication protocol experience
