Come join Goodyear as we transform the next generation of movement with intelligent, connected solutions!  Goodyear’s New Ventures team is looking for an experienced, technology-focused attorney to provide business-oriented solutions, legal & regulatory counsel and strategic advice with respect to the company’s investments in the areas of intelligent tire commercialization, digital technologies, and New Mobility initiatives.


Goodyear’s New Ventures team is focused on developing solutions and investing in new mobility, by engaging with emerging customers and bringing new solutions to market that are smart, connected and make life’s connections easier every day. Responsibilities: 


Reporting to the Associate General Counsel -- Intellectual Property & Technology, the Senior Legal Counsel Technology and Mobility will be a member of the Intellectual Property and Technology team and will be located at either Goodyear’s Innovation Center in San Francisco, California or at Goodyear’s Global Headquarters in Akron, Ohio. This position will focus on providing legal counsel (as a key business partner) to Goodyear’s New Ventures team and support other business and/or technology units as needed. The incumbent will serve as the single point-of-contact to the New Ventures team (working closely with other Legal Counsel roles) to advise the team on areas relating to intellectual property (IP), information technology (IT), data security, privacy, compliance, marketing, etc.


The responsibilities of the Senior Legal Counsel Technology and Mobility will include, but not be limited to the following:


•    Advise on and assist in management of legal risks and opportunities related to the development and launch of new programs (including platform development and extension).
•    Partner with stakeholders to develop and implement best practices and process improvements for sourcing, vendor optimization and risk management. Develop and update agreement templates and playbooks to drive cross-functional efficiencies.     
•    Draft, negotiate and manage a wide array of agreements (including procurement, service, partnership, platform, strategic collaboration, pilot, non-disclosure and testing agreements).
•    Manage external resources and work with outside counsel (as needed) to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks. 
•    Provide technology transaction support to other Goodyear technology and business units (as needed). 
•    Provide periodic training (along with other legal counsel) in compliance, IP, and other areas. 
•    Work with IP counsel/stakeholders to implement and execute IP strategy for the New Ventures team.


Professional Experience & Competencies: 


•    7 or more years of experience at a law firm or in house - Drafting complex technology, sourcing and service agreements in tech    

•    Strong background in contracting, complex partnerships, licensing, technology transactions, with working knowledge of compliance/regulatory matters, marketing, intellectual property, and privacy issues

•    Experience as a project/technology lawyer - Advising on all legal aspects of a project lifecycle (ideation, launch, commercialization)

•    Familiarity with mobility platforms, fleet operations, electric vehicle, autonomous vehicle and/or connectivity - Desired
•    Demonstrated leadership experience – Desired
•    Project leadership and organizational skills - Able to transform ideas to execution, drive complex projects across groups within tight timelines
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills, with an ability to develop business-oriented and cost-efficient solutions 
•    Sound judgment and ability to manage legal risk with a bias for action - Confidence to make decisions with legal and business impact 
•    Excellent communication skills, with ability to navigate across functions and establish trust with executive and senior management
•    Enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced corporate start-up environment and across time zones.

 

Education: 


•    Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required.
•    Member in good standing with state bar is required.
