Senior Manager - Worker's Compensation

Position Purpose:

This department provides leadership to both North America and Goodyear Corporate that addresses Workers Compensation. The Senior Manager leads a team of skilled & experienced professionals that design programs, systems & services that reduce workers' compensation liability, maintains customer satisfaction and achieves compliance with government laws.  The Senior Manager also coordinates with third-party service providers for reporting, tracking and managing claims.  Managing cash settlements on a daily basis, including large dollar amounts.  Drives change and process improvement continuously.  Conveys progress and strategies effectively to numerous audiences, including the leadership team stakeholders.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish systems & processes that assures the integrity of workers compensation reserves and North America financials.
  • Manage internal staff, vendors and contractors to maintain compliance with workers compensation benefit laws.
  • Develop systems and communications to increase the skill and knowledge levels of plant and North America Staff, to recognize opportunities and gain commitments for strategies that reduces workers compensation exposures.
  • Partner with North America Finance, Plant Operations, COO Operations, Internal and External Legal Consult, HR and Safety to drive policy, process and practice to improve safety and productivity.
  • Lead a staff of professionals, both internal and external, that provides rigorous analysis, sound decisions, and minimizes workers compensation costs.


Experience & Skills Needed:

  • An undergraduate degree in business management, engineering or related science is required. Graduate level degree highly desired
  • Minimum of 10 years of specific experience in Workers Comp management.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of program and people management.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of working with business units and strategic planning experience in Workers Compensation.
  • Thorough knowledge of systems management of integrated disability management programs including workers' compensation and supplemental workers' comp. Strong executive communication skills, managing numerous leadership stakeholders.
  • Requires a basic understanding of manufacturing, engineering principles associated with ergonomics, plant & machine design, industrial processes and their impact on workplace injuries.
  • Experience with accident investigation, transitional work, workers compensation law and workers compensation law reform.
