About the Position

This Application Developement Architect role will support Global Technology’s Innovation Beyond Tires strategy. In this role you will work with other leading digital teams to provide new applications and capabilities across the organization.  You will be part of a team that develops user interfaces for internal and external websites, develops backend processes and APIs. You will engage with cloud and application architects and other developers to understand requirements and collaborate on effective solutions. You will be involved in design, development, testing and deployment of applications. Key technologies include; C#, Python, AWS or Azure, Docker, Kubernetes along with experience in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Participating in the designing and development of large-scale distributed software systems
  • Develop software for various environments with a cloud first approach
  • Develop and deploy background processes and APIs as cloud services and enabling end to end testing
  • Building microservices
  • Research, evaluate and implement cloud native tools and architectures to improve scale and performance
  • Take part in design research and help identify design opportunities
  • Make complex work processes feel intuitive and understandable for end users
  • As needed, support and maintain existing applications including feature additions and bug fixes


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, MIS or related experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience with object-oriented languages such as C# and Python
  • Experience building applications using AWS, Docker, Kubernetes


Skills and Abilities

  • Programing languages: C#, Python a plus, Java a plus
  • Writing tests for new code (unit, mocking, integration) 
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub and SonarQube
  • Database design for DBMS such as Postgres is a plus
  • Must have very strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications with an emphasis toward the user experience of the solution
  • A strong understanding of programing best practices
  • Understanding of client-side scripting and modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js, React or Angular
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt quickly to new design and application trends
  • Must be self-motivated with the able to work within an agile environment
