About the Position


The Software Engineer in Americas Digital Team works to apply a broad range of skills to components of our complex Digital Product. The incumbent will be a member of the IT - Digital team helping us to advance our mission of providing the best solutions in the market for eCommerce and B2B initiatives.   
Our current technology stack demands strong Java competencies and experience, application architecture and data design expertise as well as demonstrated skills to facilitate the development of our future platform.  
The position will be a part of agile, high performance, quality-oriented team with opportunities to contribute to defining best practices and new ways of working.  Our Cloud first strategy will provide exposure to DevSecOps and Cloud operation in a continuous learning environment.  
The incumbent will transform loosely specified requirements into value for our business through direct contribution to the design, architecture, and implementation of our Digital Products and will participate in our shared Operations schedule as a product owner to support critical events as needed.  

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Solves complex problems and takes a new perspective using existing solutions and modern technologies. 
  • Advises non-technical audiences on recommended solutions to business challenges. 
  • Secures high quality and sustainable technical solutions providing coaching and guidance to the internal and external teams.  
  • Collaborates with peers and team leads to ensure proposed solutions fully integrate with existing and developing architectural patterns.  
  • Designs both functional and technical details of applications. Produces both high-level and detailed technical design specifications. 
  • Collaborates with project/product management team members to ensure designs and technical deliverables meet project objectives, product/platform roadmaps. 
  • Monitors activity to highlight major issues and formulate solutions.  
  • Evaluates work packages and provides recommendations on "build or buy" decisions.  Identifies and recommends vendors for the development and maintenance of assigned solutions areas. 
  • Provides advanced support as required for assigned solutions area. May require occasional after-hours support on elevated or complex issues. 

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Technology or in lieu of degree 8 years of Information Technology (IT) experience
  • Master’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Technology preferred
  • 3 or more years of experience in Information Technology 

 

 Desired Skills and Abilities: 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with software development using Java/J2EE and building web applications using J2EE technologies and frameworks like Spring
  • Must have experience in JavaScript and jQuery, JSON, XML, WSDL , SOAP, REST, Linux (RHEL), Maven, ANT, SVN, IBM DB2, HTML/CSS, Korn shell scripting, Scrum, Kanban
  • Experience with Dev Ops highly desired
