About the position
This position is responsible for development of projects with moderate complexity or working on complex projects in cooperation with more experienced personnel. The incumbent seeks solutions to technical problems, conducts work on assigned tasks, and exhibits an entry type level of knowledge.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead implementation of new technology with current department
- Contribute to manufacture of quality products and processes
- Develop and define project goals to meet specific business needs
- Translate product needs to experimental data or design parameters
- Work in a team environment towards bringing new product technologies to market
Required Experience and Education
- Bachelors degree in polymer, mechanical, structural engineering or engr. mechanics with at least 6 years’ experience required
- Master’s or PhD in polymer, mechanical, structural engr., specialization in solid mech., non-linear FEA, rubber tech desired
- 4-6 years of work experience in structural and/or thermal analyses, non-linear finite element analyses (FEA), numerical analyses of structural and thermal problems
- Hands-on experience in commercial software and tools used for structural/thermal analyses and CAD/CAE tools
- Knowledge of tire construction, tire manufacturing or polymer processing
- Experience in experimental methods and model validation
Skills and Abilities
- Practical understanding of science and technology in the appropriate discipline
- Proficiency in statistical design and analysis; cause and effect analysis and risk analysis
- Ability to carry out assignments in a logical fashion using existing technology and standardized method
- Basic organization, communication, and experimentation skills
- Good knowledge of structural mechanics/dynamics and/or Finite Element Analysis, especially nonlinear FEA
