The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Sustainability Life Cycle Assessment Principal to join our team in Akron, Ohio, United States.
The Sustainability Life Cycle Assessment Principal helps support Goodyear's Better Future strategy and efforts to evaluate sustainability related to business actions and reduce the footprint of the Goodyear portfolio including products, services, and supply chain. This position requires detailed knowledge and experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to support Goodyear life cycle assessment activities and requests for sustainability targets and performance. This position will independently conduct and manage projects pertaining to life cycle assessments, or related approaches, to inform strategies, communications, and marketing needs. This role contributes to our company-wide strategic sustainability efforts with the goal of ensuring that the company's sustainability efforts enhance business performance and support the long-term interests of the company.
In this position you will:

Assess/guide/communicate on the life cycle impacts of Goodyear's products, services, technologies, and supply chain in accordance with ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards and other associated methodologies - ensuring robust/credible outcomes to inform on strategy, marketing, and communication needs and make recommendations to reduce Goodyear’s footprint

Partner with functions/business areas to understand sustainability priorities and guide development of methods/tools/assessments to support needs

Integrate life cycle assessment tools to inform internal processes

Guide customer-facing teams with customer presentations and engagement on sustainability

Participate in internal and external working groups and facilitate alignment as needed

Govern continuous education on emerging trends and requirements in the field

Develop standard work and processes relevant to team activities

Guide Communications/Marketing teams in developing communication materials and environmental product claims related to product sustainability assessment

Lead building assessment capability through activities such as evaluation and exploration of new methods or contributing to the development of data and systems
To join our team you will need:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field
Desired:
Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering, Science or a related field
Experience:
-
5+ years of experience in sustainability related area (including application of life cycle assessment or foot printing methodologies)

Understanding issues related to the environment, circular economy and eco-design as they relate to products and operations

Familiarity with life cycle assessment standards and guidelines (including ISO 14040/14044) and corporate sustainability standards, desired

Experience using life cycle assessment software and developing models (Eg: SimaPro , GaBi) desired
Skills:

Broader expertise on one or more key topics (e.g., bio-based materials, circular economy, biodiversity)

Ability to communicate complex information on sustainability and data to non-technical audiences

Strong analytical skills related to data manipulation, analysis, and uncertainty
