The Systems Administrator will be a member of the Global IT Infrastructure Services organization, responsible for professional and technical work related to Goodyear’s Server Environments. This is an advanced service supporting role, primarily responsible for the technical and architectural support of primarily our Linux Server environments for our Data Centers. Tasks and duties in support of hosting service implementations that span across a broad range of global services and solutions are key. Primary focus of this role will be on support / upgrades / enhancement / VMWare virtualization systems and supporting security systems.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Administers, maintains and monitors UNIX/Linux systems running in both the data center and our plant environments. Maintains maximum availability of mission critical systems around the globe and ensures availability and accessibility
- Performs timely response and architect resolution to requests and incidents raised through various channels of support. Ability to perform remote troubleshooting and provide clear instructions
- Manage small to medium projects within area of specialization and across functional groups. Provides technical leadership for small to medium project teams
- Works to develop, design, and modify new and existing standards to ensure critical systems remain stable, healthy and perform as expected
- Flexibility in work schedules, including evening, weekend, holiday and rotating shift requirements. Ability to run break fix incident resolutions that may have on-call requirements.
Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’ Degree
- 6+ years of experience of technical experience preferably in support of a Windows or Linux server environment.
- In Lieu of Degree, 11+ years of technical experience.
Desired Skills/Attributes/and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a VMWare Server administrator role.
- Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control. Skilled at organizing prioritizing and multitasking.
- Exhibit enthusiasm, patience and attention to detail.
