Tire Mechanics Engineer.  The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.  Akron, OH.  

Within the R&D function, advance tire and vehicle mechanics knowledge related to tire performance.  Apply structural engineering principles to develop new, innovative tire designs; Analyze & optimize design candidates using Force and Moment performance criteria & simultaneous optimization of durability. Create and test models for in house simulator and work with simulator team to run design of experiments varying tire and vehicle models. Work with testing teams to study cause/effect relations between tire design, tire performance and durability. Define & execute project plans.  Domestic travel required 20-30% of the time.
 

Need MS degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, physics or related. Need 6 months of experience as Graduate Research Assistant, Design Engineer, Tire Mechanics Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer supporting design for the vehicles or tires.  Need 6 months design of experiment experience or prototype testing and Analysis of experimental/testing data. Need 6 months of experience with force and moment fitting & analysis tools. Need 6 months of experience studying/testing tire performance. Need 6 months of experience utilizing advanced scientific methodologies and programming with MATLAB or similar tools.
