Transportation Analyst

Primary Purpose of Position:

 Conduct transportation analysis to support internal & external customers.

Manage transactional data across all business systems to support analysis activities.

Conduct trend analysis to identify key business drivers affecting service & cost.

Support supply chain through delivery of reports & maintenance of critical data.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analysis & Reporting: perform root cause investigations for transportation service issues. Prepare transportation service performance reports for key customers. Prepare freight-cost estimates for special customer requests, i.e. OE sales proposals.   
  • Business Trend Analysis: Optimize transportation business results through identification of key drivers. Action opportunity areas through detailed analysis & build consensus. Drive cross-functional engagement to support organization opportunities.
  • Department Initiatives: Participate in & contribute subject matter expertise to cross-functional process clubs. Primary owner of transportation cost savings initiatives tracking. Analyze POF performance.
  • Freight Policy: Build & maintain freight policy exception data base. Maintain & update transportation cost tables for Out-of-Area shipping. Ensure freight policy compliance through timely reporting & visibility to expectations & drivers.
  •   Maintain Data: manage SAP transportation attributes, including CIU updates/workflow. Manage TMS customer attributes. Participate in Governance Councils  



  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business, logistics, computer science or related field



  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing company in a financial analyst function.
  • Supply chain experience &/or IT experience preferred.
  • Experience in working with data to build fact-based solutions.
  • 5-7 years of progressive transportation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience of reducing cost while driving continuous improvement to transportation.



  • Strong understanding of supply chain functions & management concepts.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles & financial analytical techniques.
  • Skilled at working with Microsoft Access, other database tools & setting up & maintaining Excel workbook financial models.
  • Excellent communicator, both written & verbal
