About the Position
In this role, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship within the tire development team. This role is crucial for driving the resolution of technical issues, coaching project teams, and leading the review of project strategies. The Tire Development Engineer Manager will promote collaboration within Global Technology and other functions such as Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Marketing, ensuring the integration of the latest technologies into tire development projects.
Location: Americana Plant, São Paulo, Brazil
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop products, processes, and methods that meet internal and external customer requirements.
- Coordinate team projects, resolve technical issues, communicate with customer contacts, and complete tire development projects.
- Contribute to the manufacture of quality products and processes with a focus on reducing complexity and maintaining high standards.
- Promote the use of new tools and concepts and define and communicate stretch or unique performance goals.
- Mentor team members in areas such as product performance, application of appropriate tools and processes, tire and mold development, and product field results.
- Serve as standards gatekeeper through participating in RMM processes and facilitate information exchange between teams.
Required Education and Experience
- Mechanical Engineering degree (or relevant field), required.
- Advanced degree, preferred.
- 7+ years in product, material, or technology development roles.
- 2+ years of demonstrable technical coaching and mentorship.
- Significant, proven experience leading multiple technical projects.
- Understanding of the Goodyear Product Creation Process (PCP) is preferred.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Power Point, Excel).
- Fluent in English, required; Portuguese and Spanish preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Practical understanding of science and technology applied to the design and analysis of tires.
- Ability to lead engineering teams in project execution using existing technology and standard methods.
- Proficiency in statistical design and analysis, including cause and effect analysis and risk analysis.
- Strong organization, communication, and experimentation skills.
- Ability to develop clear and concise technical reports summarizing highlights and defining logical next steps.
