Manufacturing in Adapazari

Goodyear has two manufacturing plants in Türkiye; in Adapazari and Izmit. The plant in Adapazari is the larger of the two, manufacturing tires predominantly for the Consumer vehicle and Light Truck market. The plant supplies the domestic market but is also a critical exporter of tires to the EMEA region, particularly for OEM customers.

 

Producing it’s first tires in 1963, the Adapazari plant enjoys a rich history in the Sakarya region. The site is more than 320,000 m2 in size, with 1000 people working in a continuous production environment. The site has a significant level of scale and complexity; it is a heavily industrialised and both, labor and capital-intensive manufacturing.  The plant produces many different specifications to customers in our Consumer business. Goodyear’s employees are members of the Turkish Rubber & Chemical union, Lastik-İş.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Goodyear is seeking is a highly motivated and proven manufacturing leader to manage our plant in Adapazari. The plant is performing well against critical KPIs but must stay focused on driving performance and preparing for future growth.

 

The Manufacturing Director is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the plant operations. Responsible for delivering results that meet safety, quality, customer service, innovation and cost criteria while operating within company policy and respecting country laws in Türkiye. This role provides vision and direction to the Plant Leadership Team. Contributes to the development and deployment of the Yearly strategy (Safety, People, Cost, Service, Quality). Sets challenging goals and drives Annual Operating Plan (AOP) performance indicators for the plant, assuring cost effective and customer-oriented operation. Drives communication and cascading down of goals and objectives throughout the entire organization.

           

(S)He will build a culture of "Zero Loss" and drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve cost, productivity, waste, quality, safety and environmental performance, through the use of our manufacturing excellence system – Goodyear Production System. They will also build and sustain a safe, collaborative and engaged work environment characterized by employee involvement and participative management. Ensuring the future of the plant by owning the succession planning for own position, N-1 and critical positions.                                                                 

 

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Responsible for driving safe and efficient performance of all aspects of plant operations. Coordinate activities with all functions to ensure the overall plant objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.                    
  • Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of people, equipment's, materials, and capital while achieving deliverables and meeting customer's needs.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance and operating budgets. Initiate corrective / preventive actions as required. Assure information and awareness of Plant Leadership Team on performance results. Act as trusted member to the business and act as full-time member of the regional team.
  • Provide leadership and support for the deployment of Goodyear Production System (GPS) aligned with regional strategies and tactics to ensure a successful and sustainable implementation.                
  • Lead Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability compliance and build the required culture where ""Safety"" is considered as a value not a focus/priority.
  • Develop, train & coach Plant Leadership Team members, promoting team spirit, collaboration and open dialogue

 

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • 15+ years manufacturing experience in a large plant required (experience in managing complexity).
  • 5-10 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years in a Continuous Improvement / TPM / Lean production environment (Operational Excellence).
  • Experience in a union environment (as applicable).
  • Proven track record of increasing scope and responsibility in leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated, measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, production and service. (Safety and Quality Champion).
  • Business and Customer Acumen.
  • Preferably experience in a multinational company, working with HQ functions and corporate processes/stakeholders.
  • Experience in tire or automative manufacturing environment preferred.      
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Industrial Management, Engineering, management or equivalent field of study required. Advanced degree preferred.
