Primary Purpose of Position:
The Maintenance and Engineering Manager will serve as a member of the Bayport Chemical Leadership Team - Playing a key role in defining and implementing the maintenance strategy for the Bayport site.
The incumbent will provide site leadership and oversee approximately 20 contractors at the facility. Successful candidate will play a strategic role in building core competencies/capabilities within the Maintenance organization.
This role will develop/implement a sustainable process for managing the maintenance spend and strategies for cost control/metrics. The incumbent will also develop and implement annual capital plans to most efficiently utilize capital funding for the upgrading, improvement, and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Maintaining and complying with all procedures, policies, regulations is essential.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set the strategic direction for Bayport Plant Maintenance.
  • Develop/Implement a maintenance strategy to streamline maintenance planning processes, improve unit reliability and enhance the effectiveness and execution of unit turnarounds/outages.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain a robust reliability program and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance. Ensure business continuity as sole supplier of raw materials to Goodyear tire plants (including external customers).
  • Manage, implement, and continuously improve the mechanical integrity program. Set the strategic direction for establishing and executing the site/building infrastructure programs. Serve as the single point-of-accountability for all facility buildings (including maintenance shops, production, and administration).
  • Manage engineering services for the Bayport plant, including Goodyear engineers, contract engineers, and engineering consulting firms as necessary to achieve the annual capital expenditure plan.
  • Manage/Oversee maintenance spend (within the annual planning process) requirements and goals. Implement cost saving strategies that eliminate waste and improve unit reliability.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the turnaround outage strategy/process. Provide functional turnaround execution expertise in preparation, execution, and startup. Develop/Implement outage execution KPIs.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required

 

Experience:

  • 7 or more years of experience in Industrial Manufacturing
  • 7 or more years of experience in Engineering/Maintenance/Operations Management in an industrial environment
  • Experience managing capital projects (all phases) and commissioning of equipment 
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical integrity concepts and regulatory requirements for tank and vessel inspections
  • Experience with continuous improvement principles and establishing KPIs


Skills:

  • Knowledge of preventive, predictive and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) concepts
  • Knowledge and experience of turnaround execution processes
  • Demonstrated ability to direct cross-functional work groups to achieve engineering/maintenance/reliability objectives and timelines
  • Ability to understand cost estimating, cost structure and manufacturing equipment processes
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategy development/implementation and team-building skills
