About the Position

Based out of our Bayport, TX Chemical Plant and reporting to the Plant Manager,  the candidate will maintain a highly productive and competitive work environment. This position will develop/implement (high involvement) associate systems and provide equitable administration for those systems. The incumbent will plan/administer policies and procedures fairly - Relating to all phases of Human Resource (HR) activity. He/She will provide all HR support/direction.d and continually build relationships and rapport with all plant employees. The role wiil be split bewtween the Bayport and Houston, TX Chemical Plants. 



  • Support the achievement of plant business goals through effective HR management. Work with divisional leadership to determine strategic/tactical plans to achieve business results, while maintaining positive associate relations. Manage HR and training functions (within the annual operating plan [AOP]).
  • Proactively manage the communication/educational process to strengthen relationships, while ensuring that contractual costs are managed effectively.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by providing continued growth/development of team-based operations. Provide leadership/direction to HR staff.
  • Maintain and exceed compliance requirements. Ensure that HR systems are compliant with all local, state, federal and corporate requirements. Support diversity initiatives within the plant/community. Manage Workers' Compensation function - Ensuring compliance with state/corporate requirements, while minimizing costs.
  • Manage administrative HR functions (including salary, hourly and contract staffing). Oversee administration of all Compensation and Benefits systems.


Education and Requirements

  • BA degree is required
  • 3-5 years' experience as a HR Generalist which would include areas such as; employment, benefits, and the understanding of governmental and company laws and rules



  • 3 or more years of experience in Human Resources
  • Experience with leading projects across organizations/regions
  • Experience working with several different audiences, communicating efficiently and knowing your audience
  • Experience investigating, analyzing and solving a myriad of complex associate relations issues
  • Experience leading Human Resources at a stand-alone facility (remote from regional office or global headquarters)


Skills and Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of Human Resource practices, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliance and affirmative action plans (AAPs)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written/verbal)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong computer and Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Understanding hiring practice and training methods used in manufacturing
