About the Position

The Goodyear Beaumont Chemical Plant is investing in equipment upgrades and capital improvements to meet increasing demand for our products.  Mechanical Engineers in the Engineering Department will be a part of a dynamic group utilizing the latest technology and techniques to execute projects to improve manufacturing processes. Interested candidates need to possess high initiative, be organized, resourceful and have a desire to learn Goodyear's manufacturing business and technologies.


The Mechanical Engineer will work with polymer processing or distillation unit personnel to develop the scope, estimates, and installation of process improvement projects that may include equipment upgrades, piping modifications, pump sizing, instrumentation improvements, and vendor coordination.  This role will coordinate additional project disciplines including civil, structural, electrical, and instrument engineering.


The Mechanical Engineer will be required to troubleshoot plant equipment issues and provide engineered solutions through collaboration with unit operations and qualified vendors. This role will provide updates on project progress and drive results that meet business needs as well as projected schedule and cost.

  • Learn and coach others fundamentals of the project closeout process.  Drive existing and new methods and coach others on project conflict resolution. Proactively manage conflict


Education and Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Science/Technology/Engineering/Math is required
  • PE, PMP or similar engineering / proj. management certifications, MS, PhD in related engineering field

  • 4-6 years of experience required; preferably in chemical operations
  • Experience in cross functional assignments or projects is required
  • Participate on cross-functional assignments, projects, and other divisional and planned initiatives for improved self development
  • Learn and apply new skills from knowledge gained through additional education/experience/training
  • Learn functional relationship of assigned organization
  • Develop awareness and pursuit of experiences on cross-functional assignments, projects, plant assignments, and other divisional positions available for self-development
