EHS & Facilities Manager UK & Ireland

 

This position is responsible for driving the health and safety culture and awareness across the business in the UK and Ireland and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Legislation, alongside acting as the key person responsible for managing our Head Office facility including end to end budget and contract management.

 

About the Role

 

  • Working with leaders both regionally and locally to identify current and future requirements.  Developing strategies to continuously improve HSE performance.  Executing with the business through managing performance and auditing.  Ensuring the business has resources to achieve legal compliance and best practice in a self-sufficient and sustainable way
  • Support and advise management on health and safety legislation and environmental concerns
  • Establish partnerships with internal/external stakeholders and providers.  Develop relationships with bodies like the HSE
  • Managing key facilities contracts, retenders and scope of works
  • Leading the business continuity process for the UK and Ireland business

 

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Minimise risks in our TruckForce operation, Dublin warehouse, UK head office and at marketing events
  • Key point of contact and source of information for Health and Safety Law, Environmental Law and claims
  • Contract Manager for head office facilities, including budget management and approval of remedial works
  • Manage and resolve complex incidents by implementing corrective actions whilst communicating with key stakeholders on serious accidents, case management and claims
  • In conjunction with Regional and Global teams, develop and execute solutions for the business in line with Goodyear EHS programmes
  • Work with customers, suppliers and our contractors e.g. facilities contract management to ensure compliance, including monitoring KPIs
  • Drive business continuity process on health and safety related items - updating plans, testing, training, communication, incident response and incident reviews
  • Manage the EHS team, empowering them to develop new initiatives and coaching them to develop their capabilities
  • Prepared to travel in UK and abroad on occasions with some possible out of hours requirements

 

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Previous experience in various areas of Health and Safety e.g. events management, SAG, motor repair industry or manufacturing. 
  • Previous experience in managing and negotiating facilities contracts, budgets and maintenance plans
  • Experience and knowledge of H&S, Environmental and Disability Discrimination Law and practical experience of its application e.g. COSHH requirements, vehicle movement etc.  Evidence of the development and implementation of best practice policies in line with legislative changes. 
  • Strong IT skills e.g. Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • Engaging communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Understanding of audit methodology and risk assessment processes.
  • Decisive and willing to take ownership of complex issues/tasks or empower others to do so.
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to collaborate and take a consultative approach.                                                                                                                                                               
  • Business/industry acumen.
  • Clean driving license.

 

Qualifications

 

Professional H&S qualification e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent.

Professional Environmental qualification an advantage.
