Quality Engineer

Primary Purpose of the Position:
• This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing process and product quality by applying appropriate Goodyear standards and procedures and solve problems on production environment. The incumbent understands and can apply standard tools to improve customer satisfaction and process capability.
• Utilize and apply understanding of suppliers and Customer requirements (internal and external) relevant to specific manufacturing processes
• Manage relationships with Customers (internal and external) and drive improvements in Customer satisfaction; appropriately representing Goodyear
• Coach, teach and direct the application of technical solutions to meet product and process requirements. Viewed as a technical content expert
• Lead and coordinate product and process improvements within relevant quality guidelines and standards using appropriate quality engineering tools.
• Diagnose process performance indicators and trends using applicable analytical tools to effectively solve problems
• Coach and teach Plant Optimization (PO) and use PO methods to drive process improvements.
• Recognize and identify problems, and achieve solutions with appropriate tools and methods that deliver defined objectives which meet business needs
• Apply appropriate techniques to anticipate and mitigate risks

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Develop solutions to project risks. Coach others on project risk management process.
• Successfully execute and implement projects. Drive and coach others. Manage process closeout process, while coaching others.
• Drive existing and new methods and coach others on project conflict resolution. Proactively manage conflict.
Main Responsibilities:
Specific for Mixing Compounder • Industrialization of new rubber compound formulations; ensuring mixing systems compliance with corporate process specification, maintaining production rubber compound compliance with corporate product specifications
• Developed new raw materials as part of the plant and corporate new compounds introductions and substitutions and, new tire industrialization process
• Optimization of the rubber mixing processes, and monitoring curing process to improve quality, process capability, efficiency and cost
• Network with technical experts to improve mixing processes and solve plant mixing problems
• Responsible for the physical test lab operations and management
Education:
• Required: Specific for Mixing Compounder: Chemical Engineer. Due to legal requirements Latin America candidates must possess Engineering Degree
• Desired: Experience or certifications in the application of Quality control systems, problem solving and project management tools
Experience:
• 3.5 or more years’ experience required.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and apply systematic problem-solving tools and techniques
• Demonstrated ability to understand and troubleshoot equipment and process problems
• Demonstrated ability to apply new tools and techniques to improve existing processes

• Have knowledge about the application of Core Tools (FMEA – APQP – PPAP – SPC – Control plan )
• Have knowledge on statistical tools to evaluate measurement system (MSA) and capability evaluation
• Use of root cause analysis and identification (5W3L, A3, etc)
