About the Position

Under the direction of the Lead Mechanic and the Airship Maintenance Technician (Chief Mechanic) will responsible for maintaining Goodyear’s Airship in accordance with manufacturer’s technical data and current FAA regulations.  The Line Mechanic will support the Lead Mechanic and the Chief Mechanic in organizing, planning, and executing planned and unplanned maintenance.  This position will also provide additional operational support as required.  This position will be required to maintain a personal body weight equal to or less than 240 lbs. 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Chief Mechanic will perform planned and unplanned maintenance activates on the airship ensuring all work is performed IAW with approved manufacturer’s technical data and approved FAA data. Responsible for maintaining all airship maintenance records in accordance with current FAA Regulations.                          


  • Under supervision will perform troubleshooting of all airship systems installed on the aircraft including hydraulics, power plants, propellers, airframe, and electrical systems, data bus systems Perform planned maintenance checks as directed by the Chief Mechanic. Will use electrical, hydraulic, fuel schematics, and mechanical drawings to facilitate airship maintenance and repairs.  


  • Under supervision will use maintenance software system to order parts and equipment in support of all airship maintenance needs.                                 


  • Under supervision will maintain all airship maintenance support equipment, hydraulic power packs, maintenance platforms and any additional equipment used to support the airship. 


  • Will also provide operational support, standing watch, driving vehicles assisting with airship ground operations.     


Required Education and Experience

  • FAA Airframe and PowerPlant license required.
  • Associate’s degree in Aviation maintenance Technology desired.
  • 0-2 years of aviation or airship maintenance experience.
  • Required weight limit not to exceed 240 lbs.


Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Comply with all environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Proficient with using calibrated tools, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches and other hand tools.
  • Proficient in using of electrical, hydraulic, fuel schematics, and mechanical drawings. 
  • Proficient in operating man lifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and maintenance platforms.
  • Proficient with maintaining Airship logs and FAA Records.
