Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Manufacturing Team Leader will manage the activities of a work team (in a participative management manufacturing environment), affect favorable production costs through personally directed projects and provide peer leadership for the accomplishment of common business goals. This role must be carried-out in compliance with Goodyear’s business conduct/ethics standards and policies/procedures along with all federal, state and local laws (including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002).

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, leadership and supervision to production teams. Participate in strategic planning/resources management to assure optimum utilization of resources in order to meet or exceed plant, team, individual and business objectives. Sustain efforts in the area of responsibility. Schedule production priorities based on customers’ needs and ticket requirements. Manage, counsel and direct Area Managers in decision making regarding employees, safety, quality, production and cost. Provide direction/prioritization of safety corrective actions, compliance and self-identified risks in business unit.
  • Develop/Lead lean initiatives. Responsible to understand and affect recoveries in mixing/buffing processes.
  • In the absence of an Area Manager, the Manufacturing Team Leader will provide counsel/discipline to associates (when necessary).
  • Authority to make decisions that deviate from established procedures. Examples include deviations or substitutes on compounds for specific production codes based on batch performance, decisions of tolerance on quality specifications, decisions to make emergency mold changes based on poor press performance, track inventory levels and adjust priorities based on material flow/equipment performance.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Required:  Bachelors degree or in lieu of degree 8 or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Desired:  Masters degree.

 

Experience:

  • 3 or more years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in a supervisory role.
